Sri Lanka: Free visa is suspended for the moment

Following the attacks that took place during the paschal weekend in Sri Lanka, the country announced that it had suspended its program to introduce the free visa for several nationalities. This one was to be put in place on May 1st.

Travelers from 39 countries, including the United States, Canada, and Australia, were required to take advantage of the free visa upon arrival on Sri Lankan soil from 1 May. Given the attacks that plunged the country into daily fear, the Minister of Tourism announced the suspension of this measure for security reasons.

Passengers who have planned to stay in Sri Lanka from May 1st must, therefore, arrange for an electronic travel authorization. That they reassure themselves, the request is made easily on the site Eta.gov.lk and imposes the settlement of 35 dollars.
